Why Patch Tests Matter (And How to Book One)

They take 10 minutes and could save you from a serious reaction. Here's why I require patch tests for certain treatments and how easy they are to do.

I know patch tests feel like an extra step, but they exist for a very important reason: to protect you. A small test today can prevent a serious allergic reaction tomorrow.

Which Treatments Need a Patch Test?

  • Lash extensions (adhesive)
  • Lash and brow tinting (dye)
  • Lash lifts (perming solution)
  • Brow lamination (straightening solution)
  • Laser hair removal (patch test on treatment area)

How It Works

A small amount of product is applied to a discreet area — usually behind the ear or on the inner arm. You leave it for 24-48 hours and monitor for any reaction: redness, swelling, itching, or irritation.

If there's no reaction, you're good to go. If there is a reaction, we'll find an alternative product or treatment that works for you.

Patch tests are completely free at Lumora Belle. They take about 10 minutes and can be booked through Fresha at a time that suits you.

What If I've Had the Treatment Before?

Even if you've had lash extensions or tinting at another salon, I still require a patch test at Lumora Belle. Different products and brands use different formulations, and your skin's sensitivity can change over time. It's always better to be safe.

Patch tests are a small investment of time for a big peace of mind. Book yours through Fresha and we'll have you treatment-ready within 48 hours.
